IHRC has produced a report asking questions regarding the activity of UK Toremet Ltd, a registered charity in the UK number 1140972 (http://uktoremet.org.uk/) with regard to its activities. The questions are directed to the Charity Commission with regard to whether or not these issues have been raised with them and whether or not they were aware of the activities of the organisation, and if such donations are acceptable.
Gift-aid is a facility available to registered charities whereby the recipient charity receives the donor’s tax relief on a donation amounting to 25% of the donation.
UK Toremet Ltd. operates as a portal for UK based donors to donate to charities in the UK, Israel and the USA. Its facility is also used by the online Jewish Charities Guide (http://www.jewishcharityguide.co.uk/).
The report can be downloaded here (report only without appendices) at the end of the page in sections (main report and appendices). Please note the report itself is 26 pages long, but the appendices are substantial.
