Film Screening: The Battle of Algiers

To tie in with the recent publication of The New Colonialism: The American Model of Human Rights eds. Faisal Bodi and Arzu Merali, we are screeing this movie.  Sohail Daulatzai’s chapter on the movie, ‘The Past as Prologue’ looks at how this tale of resistance that inspired generations has been instrumentalised by the US and other forces as a celebration of colonial practice to be mirrored in the war on terror.
The book will be discounted for those attending (usual price £20, price for those attending £9).
