Press Release: Proposed ‘Ban’ List Exposes Government’s Hypocrisy and Islamophobia
The Islamic Human Rights Commission denounces the Home Secretary’s proposal to ban 15 more organisations as hypocritical and based on an Islamophobic agenda.
Whereas the Home Secretary has claimed he has moved to proscribe organisations involved in terrorism abroad, he has only listed Muslim groups. The double-standards are again exposed as not a single Zionist or Hindu extremist group has been listed.
IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh stated:
“It is very telling that Mr Clarke has not moved to proscribe terrorist groups, such as Kach and Kahane Chai, even though they have been banned in the US, and in Israel itself.”
IHRC further notes the double-standards involved in the policing of proscribed organisations, and in particular, the refusal to enforce the law against non-Islamic groups. For example, on the very day London was bombed, a meeting was organised in the House of Lords by parliamentarians and lawyers in unlawful support of the banned Iranian terrorist organisation, the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (MeK).
