PRESS RELEASE: IHRC to monitor policing of Stop Bush Demo
Treatment of protestors and Muslim profiling to be assessed
The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) will have a team of legal and other observers present at the anti-Bush demonstration to take place tomorrow in London, UK.
The observers will monitor the operation of the police and assess whether they are treating protestors reasonably and within the law. They will also be monitoring the policing in respect of suspect profiling. IHRC has already reported on the use of ‘Muslim profiling’ by Metropolitan Police Service officers in its report of the same name which can be downloaded in PDF format from:
https://www.ihrc.org.uk/show.php?id=402
IHRC observers will be clearly identifiable as they will be wearing sleeveless yellow reflective jackets with ‘Islamic Human Rights Commission’ on the back.
If you would like a copy of the report sent by email or for more information please contact the Press Office on 020 8904 4222 or 07958 60 74 75.
