Thousands to March Against Israeli Oppression.
Annual Al-Quds Day march, December 1, 2002, London, UK
This march is a show of solidarity with the oppressed world-wide, symbolised by the oppression of the Palestinian nation. This march has taken place in various cities around the world on an annual basis for the last two decades. It is a Muslim led initiative open to all. Its roots are in the Islamic concept of standing up for the rights of those deprived, and takes place at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
This year the London march will take place on Sunday 1st December 2002. Marchers should gather at 12 noon at Hyde Park (Marble Arch) to march at 1 pm to Trafalgar Square. Rally on arrival at approximately 2.30 p.m.
The march is organised by the Justice for Palestine Committee, www.justiceforpalestine.com.
The Justice for Palestine Committee is a coalition consisting of the Islamic Centre of England, Muslim Association of Britain, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Islamic Human Rights Commission, Lebanese Community Association, Association of Muslim Ulama in Europe, United Islamic Students’ Association and Innovative Minds.
