Turkish MP Slams Regime’s Anti-Democratic Policies
Merve Kavakci To Address London Gathering
On Saturday 4th November, the Turkish MP Merve Safa Kavakci will be addressing an exclusive meeting in London organised by the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) regarding her stance on the escalating crisis in Turkey.
Last year Merve Kavakci, elected Istanbul representative of the Turkish Virtue Party, was prevented from entering the Turkish Parliament for refusing to remove her headscarf.
On Saturday, she will be revealing the explosive facts behind the scenes of the latest developments in the country, while also discussing her own ongoing campaign for justice and freedom.
Key issues to be dealt with will include Turkish military rule, the democratic movement, and the role of Islam in Turkish politics. Kavacki will also be taking questions on the current situation and its historical context.
The programme coincides with the launch of IHRC’s latest report on Turkey, Routing Out the Opposition, copies of which will be issued at the meeting to all attendees. The event is also sponsored by Q-News, Britain’s monthly Muslim magazine, and Crescent International, the fortnightly newsmagazine.
The programme is to be held on Saturday 4th November at the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, 244 Acklam Road, North Kensington, London, W10 5YG, beginning at 5 PM and concluding by 7:30 PM. Refreshments will be served.
