PRESS RELEASE: Global – IHRC expresses concern over removal of Al-Alam TV Station by Arabsat
IHRC is deeply concerned by the satellite operator Arabsat’s removal of Al-Alam TV channel from its services.
Al-Alam states that this is a breach of contract on Arabsat’s part. IHRC is concerned that Al-Alam – an Arabic broadcaster from Iran – has been targeted as part of external pressure on Iran.
IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh said:
“It is ironic that whilst the US and much western press has vociferously castigated the Iranian press and authorities for censorship, the removal of Al-Alam by Arabsat has not raised an eyebrow.”
Interviews are available in advance and on the day of publication. Please call the Press Office on (+44) 20 8904 4222 or (+44) 7958 522196.[ENDS]
