What’s new at www.ihrc.org.uk?
In this “what’s new” you will read series of alerts highlighting the human rights situation in Palestine, Bahrain and Sudan. Children’s demonstration in solidarity with the oppressed children of Gaza is the leading alert of this edition. In light of the Gaza massacre IHRC calls upon the campaigners to write to their foreign ministers urging for the creation of an Israeli war crimes tribunal, which is also found in the alert section. The leading item in the press release section is the press release for the open letter by IHRC to President Obama, expressing its disapproval of the use of torture for terrorism suspects in the US custody stating that this must be no less true for American citizens serving out sentences in the US penal system. The report section contains the announcement of the forthcoming report by the IHRC entitled “For Liberty” which discusses the impact of the French Ban on the Islamic Headscarf and other Religious Symbols in Schools in France. The Article section contains an interesting interview of the famous writer, and university professor Noam Chomsky conducted by democracynow.org.
