Update Alert: Libya – More refugees removed from Misratah for resettlement
Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has received recent reports that two refugees from Misratah detention centre have been taken to be resettled in Sweden, and more are to be transferred to the country in the coming months. A further ten refugees have been removed to be resettled in Romania. Netherlands is also reported to have accepted to take a group of refugees.
Furthermore, the news channel Al Jazeera was able to gain access to the detention centre last week and interviewed some refugees, yet another positive development in this campaign. A short clip (in Arabic) from this interview can be found at http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pjc3DxjHWD0
The refugees have extended their thanks and appreciation to IHRC and the campaigners who supported their cause.
We thank all those campaigners who have helped campaign for these refugees and we urge you to continue doing so for the welfare of those still detained in Misratah.
