About the event:
A highly educated academic and mother of three, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is serving an 86-year sentence for the attempted murder of two US officials in Afghanistan in 2008—a charge that is very clearly dubious. Her whereabouts prior to this incident remain unclear, and the fate of her youngest son, Suleman, who disappeared following her detention in 2003, remains unknown. The case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui highlights the extreme injustice and human rights violations of US foreign policy.
Clive Stafford Smith, Siddiqui’s lawyer, has dedicated his career to challenging these injustices. With a record of securing the release of 86 Guantánamo Bay prisoners, Clive continues to fight for those still detained.
Clive has set up a crowdfunding page for a monthly standing order/debit for Aafia – please see here for further information.
What you can do:
You can write to Aafia – send her words of support and encouragement by emailing letters4aafia@gmail.com.
Imam Omar Suleiman is willing to go to the prison to Aafia and support her spiritually. Clive has asked us to write to the prisons about how shocking it is that in this prison where she was raped by a Christian minister, is not allowed to speak to an imam.
