We began the summer holidays with an exciting event for author and founder of Waw Stories, Mariam Hakim and her book, Jamal the Giant. Waw Stories turned 5 this year mashaAllah and we originally launched Jamal the Giant at IHRC in 2021!

We welcomed families with nature sounds in the background, a reading of Jamal the Giant, and followed this with a quick Q&A about the book to see if our keen listeners remembered fun aspects of the story.

The kids then coloured in their own face masks: they were given the choice of a mask of Jamal or the mouse from the story. They immersed in the colouring as they let their creativity and imagination run free, transforming blank pages into vibrant and expressive masterpieces that reflected their unique perspectives.

The children left with a special celebratory cupcake and a word search sheet to complete later at home.
