PRESS RELEASE: Briefing Online: Bannings and Deportations in the Pacific: racial and religious profiling in Fiji and American Samoa
In August 2002 the US territory of American Samoa issued a ban on Muslim visitors, followed by the deportation of Fiji-based Muslim cleric. Central to this religious and racial profiling is the “war-on-terrorism” and the regional role of Australia.
