UK Event Reminder: LONDON Conference 12 June 2005
‘Towards a New Liberation Theology: Reflections on Palestine’
A one day conference organised by the Islamic Human Rights Commission and Neda, and supported by Innovative Minds, the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Justice for Palestine Committee, Crescent International, Muslim Association of Britain, Neturei Karta, Scottish Palestine Solidarity Committee.
An open and robust one day conference discussing the role of faith in liberation struggles. Religion, particularly in the Palestinian context, has been portrayed as a hindrance to peace and not as a methodology for liberation. This conference aims to discuss the role religion plays in the lives of peoples’ struggling for justice, looking at other liberation struggles as well as the Palestinian cause.
Speakers come from a variety of faith and non-faith backgrounds and include Rabbi Yisroel Weiss, Rev. Stephen Sizer, Fr. Joe McVeigh, Dr. Ilan Pappe, Sara Khorshid, Dr. Ghada Ramahi, Imam Muhammad Al-Asi, Dr. Saied Reza Ameli, Leah Tsemel, Rima Fakhry and Imam Achmad Cassiem.
Participation is without charge, but attendees need to register for tickets beforehand. Please call the Islamic Human Rights Commission on (+44) 20 8904 4222 or email conference@ihrc.org.
