Juma’s work uses vibrant colours in a contemporary style to reflect a universal spirituality. Her works include Quranic calligraphy, names of Allah and depictions of the circumambulation of the Kaaba.
The exhibition is open daily until 23 November (see times below), but a special reception where guests and press can meet the artist herself will be held from 6.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday 22 November at the IHRC Gallery & Bookshop, 202 Preston Road, Wembley, HA9 8PA.
REVIEWS:
‘Siddiqa Juma’s painting in the Multi-Faith Room at Great Ormond Street Hospital has a capacity to reflect the mystery of the spiritual and draws the viewer in to a relationship with the image. By using the name of Allah in one of the specific colours, the integrity and depth of the faith are reflected in a way that interacts rather than imposes’. – Reverend James Linthicum, Great Ormond Street Hospital
‘Siddiqa Juma’s paintings are a bold and vibrant collection of artwork that speak from the heart.’ – Humera Khan, author, activist and educator.
‘Siddiqa’s art fills me with joy and a deep connection to spirit’ – Hajji Samir Malik, artist.
Chair of IHRC, Massoud Shadjareh said:
“Siddiqa Juma’s work is both unique and inspirational. At a time of pessimism and crisis, work like Juma’s revives the spirit and gives heart to those seeking the divine in a world lacking spiritual harmony. We hope that this exhibition will bring Juma’s work to wider attention.”
