Join us for this family friendly celebration of the spiritual and sublime in support of IHRC.

There will be a 3-course meal, followed by live classical South Asian and Afghan Rubab and Tabla performances, as well as talks on current IHRC campaigns, projects and upcoming initiatives.

Our current work includes a report on the oppression of the Uighur community in China, UN side panel meetings on the imprisoned leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Shaykh Zakzaky, author events covering a variety of themes from Islamic finance to Islamophobia, storytelling events for children and homeschooling families, launching the Counter-Islamophobia Kit in Scotland and organising Ramadan Prisoner Packs.

Saphwat Simab is a British born Rubab virtuoso, who has been learning the art of playing the instrument since the age of 13.
He has performed at some prestigious venues such as, Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre, Royal Court Theatre, The British Museum and The Nehru Centre to name the few.
(Rubab is the national musical instrument of Afghanistan. It is regarded with great respect for its sound and for its spiritual connotations. It is a short necked double chambered plucked instrument).

Ustad Shahbaz Hussain is one of the best Tabla masters of the UK on world stage. He is a lecturer at the University of Newcastle and University of Huddersfield. He also runs his own Tabla academy in Manchester. He has accompanied some of the biggest names in the Indian classical Music field.
