Reports claim Nigerian security forces are planning to raid Islamic Movement of Nigeria buildings in the night

IHRC is deeply concerned of reports circulating that raids on Islamic Movement properties in Nigeria will take place overnight.

Chair of IHRC, Massoud Shadjareh said:

“Given the violence levelled at the movement by the state its security forces, IHRC and other observers are rightly alarmed that, if these reports are true, these raids may be a precursor or cover for more extreme violence.”

The Movement has been routinely targeted by Nigerian security forces.  Most recently 26 attendees of the Al-Quds Day protest in Abuja at the end of March, were killed after armed forces opened fire.  Over 300 were arrested, many of whom are children.
