Press Release: UK – Launch of Know your Rights Info: What to do if stopped and questioned at any UK airport or other port
The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) has released a leaflet outlining travellers’ rights if stopped, detained or questioned by security services while travelling or at any UK port under Schedules 7 and 8 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Muslims have traditionally been the target of these laws. However, as IHRC and other human rights groups warned, the reach of these laws is unlimited and will affect political dissidents and other groups. The controversy over the detention of the partner of journalist Glen Greenwald over the weekend, has proven this to be a reality and the leaflet has greater significance now than just simply for the Muslim community.
The information is available on our website here> https://ihrc.org.uk/activities/campaigns/10657-know-your-rights-schedule-7

It will shortly be available as an app for Android and iPhone, and is available as a credit card size leaflet.
Chair of IHRC, Massoud Shadjareh said:
“At a time when ordinary people feel intimidated, the need to have accurate information about one’s rights is empowering. We hope that this leaflet will help alleviate people’s fears.”
