The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) is deeply disturbed by news of another possible hate-motivated murder against a Muslim woman in Europe.
“The British government’s proposals to curtail freedom of expression and dissent go against the very essence of the British values that the government seeks to promote.”
The Islamic Human Rights Commission condemns today’s sentencing of Ethiopian-born Canadian citizen Bashir Ahmed Makhtal in Ethiopia’s high court.
“IHRC calls for a full inquiry into the policing of protesters and the handling of those detained”.
IHRC feels that the overall rise in police complaints is part of a growing trend of discontent with the police.
IHRC is deeply concerned that the alienation and marginalisation of the Muslim community has led to such an environment where hate crimes are prevalent.
