Press Release: IHRC welcomes commutation of Mirza Tahir Hussain’s death sentence and calls for immediate release
The Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) welcomes reports today that Mirza Tahir Hussain’s death sentence has been commuted to a life sentence. IHRC however urges that Mirza is now immediately released and returned to Britain.
IHRC Chair Massoud Shadjareh stated:
“We are delighted that Mirza’s sentence has been commuted and look forward to welcoming him back to his home in Britain.”
“We do hope that Mirza’s release will not remove the world’s focus from Pakistani prisons where thousands of others continue to languish due to miscarriages of justice.”
