PRESS RELEASE: UK Demonstration – Tens of Thousands of Muslims to Protest Anti-Islam Cartoons
18th February, Saturday, London
March from Trafalgar Square to Hyde Park. Rally at 11am, Trafalgar Square, London
IHRC is co-organising a peaceful rally and march with the International Muslim Organisation and HizbutTahrir in Great Britain to protest against the publication of the now infamous cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as amongst other things, a terrorist.
A rally with many prominent speakers will address protestors in Trafalgar Square, starting at 11am.
IHRC Chair, Massoud Shadjareh said:
“We expect Saturday’s event to be an exceptional gathering of many sections of the diverse Muslim community from around the UK. It’s time to say ‘enough is enough’. Muslims have been demonised, their faith and holy figures vilified, and yet they are expected to accept this in the name of free speech. At the same time Muslims’ rights are increasingly compromised and they are rapidly becoming the underdogs of Europe.”
