Fadil Suleiman is the director of Bridges Foundation, an international organization aiming to bridge the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims through educating each side about the culture of the other.
He was invited to give a lecture titled “Is Islam a religion of Peace or a religion of war?”
This lecture was given on 3 November 2011 to the students of the UN in the university of Tromso, Norway. In order to reach to this city Mr. Fadil needed to take an airplane from Oslo to Tromso using SAS airlines, when something unexpected happened to him.
According to the Norwegian newspaper VG, Mr. Fadil stated to a social news site called BRQ that he was behaving at all times and had been polite but the cabin staff were discriminatory against him. SAS officials stated that fellow passengers responded to the speaker’s behavior, and claimed he was very nervous and kept his laptop and mobile on, even after the cabin crew asked him to switch them off completely.
“He was behaving suspiciously. He was aggressive and threatening”, said information Officer Knut Morten Johansen of SAS to VG Nett.
“Fortunately, I know that racists are not going to heaven”, Mr. Suleiman stated in a post on his twitter account.
Ms. Sandra Maryam Moe Stated to VG: “This is embarrassing. He travels all over the world and has just been in Sri Lanka and Kuwait. He knows how to behave on a plane.”
Ms. Maryam works for Alnor Mosque in Tromso who invited Mr. Suleiman to give an English Khutba about our relation with Allah on 4 November, 2011.
