Vigil against mosque closure and Islamophobia by police.
It is one year since North London Central Mosque (Finsbury Park Mosque) was closed by the police.
Home office figures for 2000-2003 show there have been 32100 searches under the Terrorism Act, 21900 more than the previous year. 380 were arrested. There have also been incidents of serious police brutality, assaults and verbal abuse including a young man forced to kneel down in
sajdah and told \’Where is your God now?\’
This has to stop!
North London Central Mosque Working Party (NLCMWP) with the support of the Islamic Human Rights Commission and the London Muslim Coalition will be holding a vigil calling for the end of police Islamophobia and police brutality and calling for the reopening of the mosque.
Give your support and join the vigil!
Friday 23 January 2004 at 3pm outside New Scotland Yard, Broadway, London, SW1H OBG. Nearest tube (St. James Park and Westminster).
